This is where a huge cedar tree tipped over near the swamp years ago. On the right is the underside of the roots - a good 12-15 feet high. It left a crater which fills with water every winter. Amazingly, the tree is still living - the root system was flat and shallow, but enough is still connected at the bottom. It creates a dark and eerie feeling even on this sunny day.
