Really hot today! Kitties have to find some way to cool off!

SATURDAY, JUNE 29, 2013

Dig we must! The boys are working on the plumbing for the apartment. This will house the sewer line, and you can see the water lines at the wall.

FRIDAY, JUNE 28, 2013

Once again Holmes Harbor is blessed with the red algae bloom. Lovely.

THURSDAY, JUNE 27, 2013

On an apres-sunset walk, the clouds still held a little bit of color.
A daisy reaches for the last light.

Wednesday, June 26, 2013

Down in the swamp - up close with duckweed and a tiny water strider in the muddy shallows.
Then, when you look up and into the swamp, the colors change from browns to greens and golds!
And around the edges, the salmonberries are ripening - a yummy handful!

Another spectacular cloud day, and I had the fortune to be in Coupeville, so I drove by Ebey's Landing for some photo ops. Never disappointed!

Sunday, June 23, 2013

A nice day today, and Apollo and I ate lunch on the lawn swing. Then he heard a tiny critter in the tall grasses, and went to intimidate it.

Saturday, June 22, 2013

Tonight is the night before the "Super Moon", and since the sky was fairly clear (for once) I headed out to find a good spot to watch it rise. I chose the Freeland Park, and was rewarded with an amazing sunset. I loved how the sun set behind one cloud, and turned it into rainbow colors.
I made a little panorama of the cool clouds at sunset. But in the east, where the moon was rising, was a bank of clouds, and I couldn't see the moon. So I moved on.
Driving up the highway I saw the moon peeking out from the clouds, and went to the Double Bluff beach. In another panorama, the apres-sunset pink clouds are reflected in a tide pool.
And finally the moon showed itself! By now, though, it was high, so I missed the actual rising, where it would have appeared the largest. Still, it was amazingly lovely, especially with the reflections. I sat and just watched.

Visited a new job site - they want a garage to look like their house. Pretty spectacular!

Raining today! As it has been for the past few days. Oh, well - you know I love the raindrop photos! The geranium above is not in the greatest focus, but the photo is very appealing to me anyway.
And the cut-leaf Japanese maple is always a great photo subject.

Well, here's my version of the older photo, complete with toes! Couldn't come up with any plaid shoes, tho!

Monday, June 17, 2013

Our next Photo Art Journal theme is "Toys". It's a multiple assignment - we're supposed to take a photo of our favorite toys with our good camera, then use a smart phone or tablet to take another photo, using one of the "toy camera" apps.

Well, I just happen to have a photo I took of my favorites toys, my horse collection, in 1964. With my little plastic Brownie camera. Not quite a toy camera, but close! And, amazingly, I still have most of these horses, and intend to re-create this photo for my book. We'll see how it comes out. I love the fact that my foot is showing - I do remember those plaid tennis shoes!

POPPIES!!! All of these are from one poppy plant about three years ago. Now there are lots and lots of them, all different colors. Don't quite understand how that works....but I love them!

Saturday, June 15, 2013

Cara's birthday/graduation/summer celebration was today! Cara is in the bar, with some of her friends. Weather was perfect, food was good, and I went to bed early!
They all had a good time. Cory with some of his friends.

FRIDAY, JUNE 14, 2013
I didn't last very long today - ended up sleeping over 12 hours. Guess I needed some catching up!
THURSDAY, JUNE 13, 2013
On the flight home to Seattle, another night-time city, this one with a cloud layer hovering over it. Somewhere about an hour or more from Seattle.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 12, 2013 - didn't get any shots today! I got up at 3:30am to take Cody to the airport, then we spent the day going through drawers and closets and trying to get all of the stuff done before I leave tomorrow.
TUESDAY, JUNE 11, 2013
Cody and Chloe
Cody playing around with one of Cris's silk pockets.

MONDAY, JUNE 10, 2013
The whole family at the Sand Run Metro Park after the celebration of Dad's life:
Cris, Kathy, Nancy, me (in front), Chloe, Mom, Cory and Cody.

SUNDAY, JUNE 9, 2013
After breakfast out, we stopped at the Peninsula section of the Towpath trail.
This little tunnel goes under the railroad tracks.
A great blue heron scored a nice lunch!

SATURDAY, JUNE 8, 2013
Hiked in the Cuyahoga Valley Gorge Metro Park - lots of cool rock formations!
The dam on the Cuyahoga River - it is slated to be removed, but the problem is the 80 years' accumulation of toxic sludge on the bottom of the lake. Once they figure out what to do with that, they're good to go!

FRIDAY, JUNE 7, 2013
Went out to the bars with the kids: Cory, Cody and their cousin Chloe.
The tabletop was very reflective.
THURSDAY, JUNE 6, 2013
Didn't get but one photo today - it was raining, but stopped in the afternoon, and Cory and I walked around the neighborhood and in the woods, dripping.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 5, 2013
Some flowers in Mom's garden. Poppy and pretty blue flowers.
 Love-in-a-mist.
 One of the flower beds.
TUESDAY, JUNE 4, 2013
On the flight from Seattle to Akron, the sunrise as viewed through the airplane window from the far side of the plane.
We went out to lunch, and on the way home stopped at the heron rookery to see how big the babies are in the nests.

Monday, June 3, 2013

Cory and I are on our way to Ohio tonight, to spend time with our family and attend Dad's memorial.
We took the overnight flight, and this was a city by a river. The time stamp on the photo suggests it was about half-way between Seattle and Charlotte, NC. I liked how the roads radiated out from the river.

The view from my seat on the front porch this sunny June morning. The hummingbird was just here, hovering in this space, looking at me and wondering where her feeder full of sugar water is! Well, much as I love seeing them, I prefer to let them find red flowers on their own. She did work over the wisteria, but it is just about done, so I think not much nectar left.

Looking lower, the ferns are really reaching for the sun!
