Cody, Cyndi and I went on a hike this afternoon - it's in an area recently taken over by the County parks system. The trails had been there for years, but they've cleaned and widened them so they're very nice to walk on. We started in deep woods - large trees, lots of ferns and moss - very pretty and quiet. After exploring some side trails, we came out in a cleared valley. The trail went down the steep hill and back up the other side, but the open area was filled with ripe black raspberries, Pacific blackberries, and red huckleberries. If you look close behind Cyndi, you can see them!

We toiled on for a ways, and came on an old logging road that the four-wheelers use. A side trail ended up at another clearing, below right. On the way back, we came out on the logging road that you can see behind Cyndi, then bushwhacked our way up the hill through the brambles to find the trail in the woods. All in all, loads of fun! Stopped for pizza on the way home!
It was so nice to get out there - I had heard about the place, and it's very close to home.
