Today we loaded up and headed for Ojai, near Ventura, CA, for our backpacking adventure. An interesting challenge for an out-of-shape old lady, but I managed pretty well. The Sespe Creek runs through a wilderness area, with a condor sanctuary. And we actually DID see a condor overhead - so big!

The trail was mostly flat, with some ups and downs as we crossed side valleys. Dry chapparell country with sage, and very few trees. Lots of interesting rock formations.

We camped at one with smooth, rounded rocks, upon which the boys slept, while I opted for the tent on a sandy bed.
