Here is an interesting experiment with auto-exposure. These photos were shot from the same place, but by aiming the camera either up or down, I got completely different images. Above, I aimed at the sky to show how the clouds ended in the north, but the focus is on the dried weeds in the foreground. It really captures the foggy wet dreary winter day.
For this one I aimed down at the top of an old fencepost covered with lichens, and picked up the rich colors of the shrubbery in the hedgerow, but the sky is overexposed and washed out. I love both of these!
