"And the first official flowers of the new year are descending from the Beaked Hazel. Within a few weeks, long yellow bangles will announce that spring is coming, no matter what the rain clouds say." Rob Sandelin, nwnature1@gmail.com

I get a monthly enewsletter from Rob, who is a naturalist in the Puget Sound area. He describes what is happening in nature each month, and I find it very interesting. So when I got January's letter, and saw his comment, above, I just had to go out and find my Beaked Hazel tree and check. Sure enough, the flowers are beginning to form - signs of spring already!!  Yay!
