The crows and raven kept up the racket all morning long. What in the world? I finally had to go take a look - and saw a pair of eagles in the dead fir tree, not 20 yards from the deck. They were nonchalantly ignoring all the clamour most of the time, but occasionally would fluff up and chee-chee-chee back at the crows. Eventually, my movements on the deck spooked them, and they flew down to the ground under the trees. Sitting on some brush, one of them peered quizzically at me through the branches. Silly critters! We often see them soaring far overhead, so I'm not sure why they chose to hang out here for most of the morning.
