Happy day in the shop - the woodstove is fired up! We had our local SDA meeting today - it was the annual holiday potluck, held at Mary Burks' lovely house. She showed us her spacious studio, and demonstrated her dying technique on a silk scarf.
Starting with a blank silk scarf, Mary scrunched it up on a piece of plastic wrap. After squirting several colors of dye,
she wrapped the plastic around it and smooshed the dyes into the silk with her fists. It went into the microwave for a couple of minutes, and after cooling, she unwrapped it, then will rinse and iron the piece.
Awe enables us to perceive in the world intimations of the divine, to sense in small things the beginning of infinite significance, to sense the ultimate in the common and simple, to feel in the rush of the passing the stillness of the eternal.
