Haven't been down in the woods for a while - days are so short, and weather so nasty! It felt good to get out and stretch my legs. Came across this odd fungus - firm to the touch, but translucent, growing on a tipped-over alder tree. I haven't seen anything like this before! And, growing on a tipped-over willow, tenacious shoots straight up to the light. Willows certainly keep growing in whatever position they land, and are the backbone of our swamp, with new growth on the old trunks.
