Had a long day - there was a meeting on the south side of Seattle, and since I was going down there anyway, David ordered some supplies which I went to pick up. It was an hour and 1/2 of heavy traffic in an unseasonal heat wave, phew! I did get to spend some time at IKEA, a very fun place to shop! Then on to the Retreat Committee meeting, where we had a wonderful dinner, and a fun meeting choosing which classes to have at Retreat. I ended up on the 11:00 pm ferry, stuffed and exhausted! But I hauled out the camera and got a nice pic of the lighthouse from the ferry. Then home and to bed!

A low fog bank creeps along the foot of the Olympic mountains. Summer isn't quite done with us yet . . .

Our pet tally is growing. We now have a pet Douglas squirrel, who appears to be living in the gutter on our front porch. He wasn't at all concerned with me standing so close. He also goes up and down inside the downspout - I just hope he doesn't get stuck in there!! Here he popped up to watch me, later he was happily munching a maple seed perched on the edge of the gutter.

What's down there?? The gulls are just hanging out on the pilings by the ferry dock.

It was pretty windy, too, with a big black cloud behind them. On my way to the monthly meeting of the basketry guild.

Sally Anaya gave a great presentation about her year-long fiber arts course at the Univ. of Wa. It was very interesting, and she learned a lot about how to progress in her art.

Happy Birthday, David! He's wearing his new halibut shirt, spending the day on the beach fishing,

and look - there's a fish splashing in the shallows.

Holding up a nice silver salmon - here it weighed about 9 pounds, but by now it is probably up to at least 12 pounds!

Here's the day's catch - the two on top are silvers - David's big one on top - you can see it's upper jaw starting to hook. When they get to their rivers, the jaws hook so much their mouths can't close. The bottom two are humpies, one of which I caught!!! My first salmon of the season.

Somehow, I lost a day . . . .

We got a BIG rainfall today - it just poured down! Still, things are so dry it took a while to get completely wet. Dripping down the trunk of the madrona tree.

When the sun would peek through the clouds, it heated the wet grass enough to create a mist.

And, of course, my favorite thing, the big drips with their great reflections.
