I took a series of close-ups of basket weaves for a gift for my Basket Guild holiday gift exchange. I created a set of notecards with this type of image - they came out very nice. I'm also planning to weave a little pouch to hold the cards, so it should be a great gift. If anyone still writes notes on paper!!!
The top is wild cherry bark in a diagonal plait weave, and above is the handle of a willow basket. Below is a twill weave base made with cedar bark. 
We celebrated 4 birthdays tonight - Suze's (center, smiling) was Oct 30, Barb's (at left, unwrapping) is Nov 10, mine is Nov 27, and a family friend John's is today! Barb made a wonderful meal for us all, and we even had a birthday bear who did the singing for us!
Earlier in the day, I worked a shift at the Whidbey Weaver's Guild's annual sale at the Greenbank Farm. There are so many talented members of this guild, and the barn was filled with fantastic hand made items of all types! Sales were pretty steady, so hopefully it was a success.
Day 2 of the big storm. Lots of rain and wind today, off and on. Rivers are flooding on the mainland.
Toward the end of the day, the sun broke free of the clouds for a brief time, highlighting the falling rain. Of course, these are the conditions that create rainbows!
So we got a double tonight! Notice how dark the sky in above the bow, and how light beneath it. Those little white clouds were racing across the sky - the wind was howling. I have to admit, it does make for an interesting day!
The rains are here - flood warnings already. On the Island, we haven't been getting as much as on the mainland . . . yet. Luckily, we don't have any rivers to flood, and very few storm drains to get clogged up, so flood warnings don't affect us as much.
The rain is knocking the leaves off the trees, though, so last chances for photos of them! This is the ornamental cherry at our driveway.
As I was taking the photos, it began to rain again, dripping down the leaves and gathering in big drops before letting go and falling to the leaf-strewn ground.
New snow on the Olympic mountains today! We've had quite a bit of rain, with more coming, but today is dry and here it is relatively bright. For those folks living under that fog bank, it is cold, dark and dreary! A pair of fishermen take advantage of high tide to head out and check on their crab pots.
I made a journal for a collaborative art project. For the cover, I printed a photo of my cat's eye on fabric, and a second print on shear fabric, and layered them together on the front cover, which is covered with tapestry fabric. I used heavy watercolor paper for the pages, and sewed them with a long stitch. I like how it turned out, and will likely do some embellishing as I go along. For now, I just need to create the title page, and the first spread, before sending it to my partner. In turn, she'll send her journal to me so I can work on a spread in her book. We'll exchange them for a few months or a year - it is a big challenge for me, but exciting!
