Today members brought and arranged their items, getting it all ready.

After eating chicken & noodles in the Amish restaurant, I began remembering my grandmother's "fat noodles" that she made. So I looked up recipes on the Web, and made a small batch for the first time. We added them to David's chicken soup, and they were sooooooo good!

Last day before the storm gets here, nice temps and sun, so I wandered the woods to see what was new. Lots of fungi! I love the color of this batch.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2009
Mom and I finally got down into the woods on my last morning, and it was a pretty one, with the sun shining down through the nearly leafless trees. Mom looks up at the final steep hill to the house.

We visited the Stan Hywet Hall and Gardens in Akron and toured the Hall with a guide. I had been to the grounds a few times, but it was the first time inside, where of course no photos are allowed. It was amazingly detailed and beautiful!

The words "stan hywet" are Old English for "stone quarry", which is one of the features of the property. The owners used the ponds for swimming, and this building had changing rooms below the overlook, with steps down into the quarry area.

The English Garden is sunken, with an entry down the steps and in the wall.
