I camped at Cape Perpetua and spent all day on the beaches, watching the endless waves crashing into the tidepools, holes and coves. This plaque was on a lichen-encrusted concrete bench.

The lookout at Cape Perpetua is the highest that is accessible by car along the Oregon coast. The stone building was built by the CCC, and recently refurbished. The view to the south is of the beach where I spent my time, and the view to the north is the little town of Yachats. We were lucky to see some migrating great grey whales while up there - they are incredibly huge! This blow-hole would shoot spray up into the air at high tide - here the setting sun catches the mist and lights it.
