TUESDAY, AUGUST 5, 2008 On the road across Oregon - forest fires are burning, and the smoke is everywhere, whiting out the sky and anything in the distance.
The farms along the highway are very dry - there is a tractor in one of the clouds of dust, the others are dust devils. Finally got to the campground at Mill Creek. Every site had a bear safe - what a great idea! It was very convenient to store all the food and paper goods.
Awe enables us to perceive in the world intimations of the divine, to sense in small things the beginning of infinite significance, to sense the ultimate in the common and simple, to feel in the rush of the passing the stillness of the eternal.
