Wednesday, May 9, 2007 Another night shot from the ferry boat, looking back at the Mukilteo landing - the pilings for the dock are at the far right, and most of the lights are a hotel and restaurant on the water. I tried raising the ISO - it seemed to work OK, and I wasn't even using a tripod, just resting the camera on the boat railing. Fun to try.

Well, I met Cody at his work, and then we went shopping. Here is what he bought! It's a Kawasaki Ninja 650. He has always wanted a big bike, and he has certainly wanted a new vehicle that he didn't have to work on. And, since he now has two cars that aren't running, it seemed to be the right time. Amazingly, he qualified for the loan, so this will also be a good way to begin building his credit up. He'll pick it up in a week or so, but of course he can hardly wait!

Then, on I went to my Basket Guild meeting. Tonight the speaker was Mary Dodds Schlick, an expert on the Columbia Plains Indians and their baskets. She just published her second book, memoirs of her life on the reservations. She gave a very entertaining talk, and had lots of great stories. She brought some of her favorite gifts and purchases to show us - she's holding a Yakima Indian hat twined from dogbane. On the table are some cornhusk pouches, and twined bags for gathering roots.
